At home Non Stress Testing (NST) brings important third trimester fetal monitoring directly to you, without another trip to the hospital or your provider’s office. Kicks & Flutters provides this service to your home throughout Nashville, Middle Tennessee, and Southern Kentucky.
Using FDA cleared fetal monitoring technology, your baby’s heart rate, movement, and uterine activity are monitored from the comfort of your home. Your NST is administered by a registered sonographer with live interpretation by a Maternal Fetal Medicine physician.
What is an NST?
A Non Stress Test, or NST, is a noninvasive test used to evaluate fetal well being. It monitors your baby’s heart rate and how the heart rate responds to movement while also recording uterine activity and contractions.
NSTs are commonly recommended during the third trimester when additional fetal surveillance is needed, often beginning around 32 weeks. Depending on the pregnancy and your provider’s recommendations, NST monitoring may be scheduled once or twice per week.
What to Expect
I come directly to your home with the monitoring equipment and remain with you throughout your appointment.
Your NST monitors:
- Fetal heart rate
- Maternal heart rate
- Fetal movement
- Uterine activity and contractions
Your monitoring is interpreted live by a Maternal Fetal Medicine physician, providing medical oversight during your NST without requiring a trip to the hospital or office.
If Additional Evaluation Is Needed
If your NST is nonreactive or additional fetal assessment is recommended, a Biophysical Profile, or BPP, can be performed immediately following your NST when appropriate. There is no need to schedule a separate ultrasound appointment or make another trip. The BPP is available at a reduced rate when performed directly following your NST and provides additional evaluation of fetal well-being through ultrasound.

At Home Non Stress Test Nashville: What to Know
Because live physician interpretation requires coordinating availability with the Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist, NST appointments are scheduled by request.
Submit your preferred date and time during your booking request. We will coordinate availability and contact you to confirm your appointment.
Serving Nashville, surrounding Middle Tennessee communities and Southern Kentucky. Travel up to 90 minutes round-trip from Whites Creek, Tennessee, is included in each at-home ultrasound. Travel beyond 90 minutes is charged at one dollar per minute for the additional travel time.
Need Weekly or Twice Weekly NSTs?
If your provider recommends once weekly or twice weekly NST monitoring during your third trimester, you also have the option to rent the FDA cleared home monitoring system for $1,000 for the remainder of your pregnancy. The system is shipped directly to your home, and Kicks & Flutters will provide the initial setup and guidance so you feel comfortable using it for your ongoing monitoring.
With the rental option, you can complete your NSTs from home without scheduling an in home visit for each test. Kicks & Flutters’ Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist will oversee and interpret each NST, with an interpretation and scheduling fee charged for each reading.
For patients who require frequent NSTs throughout the third trimester, renting the system can provide a more convenient and cost-effective option for ongoing fetal monitoring.

Individual at-home NST appointments are scheduled by request so that your appointment can be coordinated with the Maternal Fetal Medicine physician providing live interpretation.
All services are self-pay (payment options available) or HSA/FSA. Superbills are available upon request for patients who would like to submit their services to insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
